How do Cats and Dogs know which is cat food and which is dog food?
02.23
I have 2 cats and three dogs. One night, I ran out of cat food (the dry type) and my cats were hungry. So since I had dog food only and the shops were closed, I gave them dog kibbles. They’re more or less of the same shape and size and are made of the same ingredients – chicken. My cats took a nibble and refused the rest of the bowl, preferring to go hungry than eat dog food. The next day, i got them a fresh pack of made-for-cats kibbles and they immediately dived in and ate up. How come my cats knew what I gave them wasn’t cat food?
I also know of dogs that won’t eat cat food for the long run (not mine though, cos they’re pigs and will eat anything).
It would be good if a pet food manufacturer can answer this question. Is there some special ingredient you put in cat and dog food that makes cats and dogs know which kibbles is who’s? Also, nowadays, dogs are eating fish too – like salmon. You can’t say it’s the ingredient. How come they know the difference?
What kind of dogs would make a good indoor pet; with children and cats?

We have young children, and quite a few cats (We’re a bengal cat breeder). We want a dog that can thrive with the chaos that can often be associated with life with a family. The dog would be fixed. We don’t particularly have a ton of spare time, so we don’t want a long haired dog, besides the fact I’m somewhat allergic. We don’t mind a small dog, but we DON’T want a yipper. Both my husband and I will be working, but it won’t ever be alone, it’ll always have the cats here, and two of them absolutely adore dogs, if anything, they’ll sleep with it and follow it around, play with it. Large, or small, it doesn’t really matter; but it needs to be somewhat easily trained, especially if a larger dog; we don’t have problem putting the time into it that it need to train, but it’s going to grow up with young kids, and we need it to pick up new commands with some work. It’ll be taken for walks, up to 45 mins a day, but would most likely not have a yard to run in. What dog would suit our needs?
I’ll repeat, we don’t want a yipper. Or a long haired dog. Otherwise, we’ll all for any ideas.

Skateboarding Dog

Tillman the skateboarding bulldog from the iphone commercial. All clips are from January 2007. Tillman was a little over a year old at the time and is a much better skateboarder now. Tillman does not belong to me, to find out more about Tillman visit www.gotillman.com A little history of this first video. I Filmed the video using a just purchased Panasonic Lumix TZ1. I was bicycling through Venice Beach California when I came upon the skateboarding dog. This was probably the only time I used the Lumix’s wide screen movie mode. I suspect one of the biggest reasons my video was selected, second only to the awesome Tillman, was not much user generated 16 content was available on youtube.(iphone is 16:9) Originally the first video had the soundtrack “Giving In” by linkin Park. Once the video appeared in iphone commercials I panicked and removed the video from youtube because of the attention and I had no rights to use the song. As time approached for Apple’s release of the iphone with youtube, youtube contacted me and requested I reinstate the video without the soundtrack. Youtube wanted users to be able to view the skateboarding dog in the store and after purchasing their iphone. Unfortunately youtube gave me only a few hours to re-edited video before the iphone release. The original background sound on most of the clips was ruined by hysterical laughter from a woman watching Tillman so I cut and pasted sound in from other parts of the video to cover the laughter. That’s why some claim they here the word eskimo over and over-lol. When the original video with the Linkin Park soundtrack was selected it had around 15000 views.
